How to restrict your Terminal Server to one session per user.
Posted by - NA - on 20 September 2007 07:27 AM

In order to restrict your Terminal Server to one session per user, please be aware that this is possible when running Windows 2003 Server. In order to do so:

  1. runtscc.msc
  2. Open Terminal Services Configuration >Server settings

In here you will find the setting 'Restrict each user to one session' under the
server settings - Make sure that its attribute is yes.

Please note that this policy basically means that if a user already has a session on the server, the Terminal Server will attempt to connect them to the existing session.
Please also note however, that sometimes there may be cases when this policy is not effective. One example is when a session is remote controlling another session. Another example is when the session is shutting down.
