The specified remote 2X Connection could not be found
Posted by Christopher Flores on 27 January 2015 10:41 AM

Overview

The error: "The specified remote 2X Connection could not be found. Verify that you have typed the correct computer name or IP address, and then try to connect again" is presented when a user tries to connect to a 2X Gateway from their 2X Client.

Description

The error is usually presented because the connection settings configured in the 2X client are incorrect, thus making the 2X Gateway not reachable. This error is usually attributed to a network related problem.

As such, it is important to confirm the following:

  1. The 2X ClientSecureGateway information provided in the Connection Properties on the 2X Client is correct.
  2. If it is correct, ensure that connectivity is in place. This can be done by installing the Telnet Client feature in Windows and trying to telnet the gateway and port. The command would simply be: telnet <2X Gateway IP> <port>. For example: telnet 2XGW 80
  3. If the above test fails, it would be necessary to identify the reason for the failure. In most cases it can be something as simple as having the Windows Firewall still enabled with no exceptions.
  4. Should the connectivity test succeed and the error is still being returned, please contact 2X Support at support@2x.com
