How To Disconnect 2X Sessions After A Period Of Idle Time
Posted by on 13 August 2014 08:43 AM

Setting the maximum idle time for a 2X Client or RDP session is configured at terminal server level. This can be set in two ways:

User Interface (Windows 2008 / Windows 2008 R2 only)

  • Open the Windows 2008 R2 RDP host configuration service
  • Open the RDP-Tcp properties
  • Go to 'Sessions'
  • Set 'Override user settings' > 'Idle Session Limit' to appropriate time.

Group Policy Editor

  • Open the group policy editor.
  • Go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Tools > Windows Pomponents > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Session Time Limits.
  • Apply the appropriate value to 'Set time limit for disconnected sessions'.
